Atlanta is a long way from Puerto Rico, but even from 1,500 miles away Manuel “Manny” Rivera knows a good opportunity when he sees it. Six years ago, Manny moved to Atlanta to do rigging for the grip department in film and television productions.
To meet this wave of opportunity, Manny started his own business, Grip It Good, in 2015. He supplies rigging equipment to productions. “I am proud to have good quality gear and have everything a production will need to get the rigging work done well,” Manny says.
Not only does Manny supply the equipment, he still works on rigging as one of the crew. He can now help others get employment as well by recommending high-quality crew members. He knows riggers who work well together, can get the job done and do it safely and efficiently.
“There’s tons of film production work in Georgia,” says Manny. “Not only does it help those who work directly on the productions, but I’ve seen how the industry creates jobs and employs lots of people. The industry impacts everyone from hotels, restaurants and even people in their neighborhoods where filming happens.”
You can see Manny’s work in many films, including “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, the “Divergent” franchise, “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip,” and “Office Christmas Party.”
